My goodness, my guinness. This day was special. We got to hang with fellow Airstream shop Blossom Vintage, and turns out Blossom is factually run by one of the coolest gals on planet Earth. What a lovely human being! She slightly convinced us to consider moving to Long Beach once we finish the tour. Perhaps. Perhaps. Please don't forget to check out her lovely work here. Lord Windsor Roasters is a genuine hang-out, very community-oriented, in-and-out, doors-open sort of feel. They are so friendly there and just serve such tasty coffee. If you are in town, you should get ya'self over there, now. Also many thanks to Topo Chico and DRY Soda for providing savory beverages for a sunny afternoon in Long Beach. And thanks to new friends! Jamie, Luigi, Cat, Michael, Rodellee, Robby...Reunion soon?
Well it mighta jus' been tha dandiest little gatherin' one person ever did see. Master crafters Sherman and Theresa slung speakeasy derby-fied cocktails at last Friday's Back Door Cocktail Club which featured a lovingly curated cocktail menu of Mint Juleps served over crunchy, crushed ice and with a heavy-stash helping of fresh mint, Brown Derby's smooth brown whiskey concoction--sweet as butter, and Tito's Homemade Vodka and sweet tea shaken, swirled and served on the rocks--mmm! BDCC started as Back Door Coffee Club by husband-and-wife duo Stephen and Beks in their warmly clothed industrial loft in downtown Los Angeles. The loft features Stephen's creation: beautiful and delicately war-torn furniture constructed from re-purposed vintage war fatigues, woods, metals and gear. Oh my!

And, why yes I will have another DRY soda and Topo Chico! Thank you for the refreshing sips--we wouldn't have made it through the Hollywood heat without you! And thanks to Tito's Handmade Vodka for joining the SRC journey and bringing a little Austin, TX flavor to the mix! Thank you!!
Thanks to Cierra, Tom, Sammy, Katie, and all the folks at the Iron and Resin Garage in Ventura for having us! Check them out if you are ever in Ventura--they have a sweet shop featuring everything from motorcycle and surf supplies to specially curated wears + goods and tranquil little back patio for hanging out on a Saturday afternoon.
Also, thank you to our wonderful friends at Topo Chico and DRY soda for keeping our glasses full!
We played in the Santa Barbara sun last Saturday at The French Press with our friends from Cool Summer Records! The event also included some new friends and favorites including hand-wrought and thoughtfully conceived leather goods from Make Smith, spectacular vintage and art from The Lower Lodge, the most intriguing terrarium designs and lush, light-filled presence of Chaparral Studio, need-to-know jams from music guru and all-around-experience-savant Cool Summer Records, lovely strung gems and sweet goods from Adesso Jewelry, the best non-band band name I've heard in a while LAS Granolas with hit-the-spot homemade crunchy granola yums, charming and timeless hand curated furniture from Riviera Vintage, and balmy day Bohemia-essential dyed goods from Peche Made. There were so many pups there too--Hairy, Rocket, Potato, and George! PLUS we had special musical guest Travers play in front of the SRC shop. Tasty, refreshing Mexican mineral water from Topo Chico and uniquely inspired flavor from Seattle's DRY natural soda (Cucumber, mmm!) found their way to the thirsty mouths of market-goers.
After the exchange, we headed over to Warbler Records for Record Store Day and landed ashore of some absolutely fabulous tunes from the introspectively explosive mind of Matt Kivel in the Warbler's quaint little brick-laden back patio. Plus we were able to lock down an Odetta record for 1/2 off and discover a new favorite summer-worthy sneaker SeaVees:) Later we zipped over to Muddy Waters for some jams by Criminal Hygiene and more from Cool Summer Records Presents!
Such good times!
Special thanks to Cool Summer Records, Dave Mount, Cara Robbins, Aly Comingore, Travers, The Santa Barbara Independent, all the awesome vendors, The French Press, Topo Chico and DRY Soda!
